Under The Marble Arch
“Seeing what isn’t there is half the job of being on the Left. The other half is changing what isn’t there through costly, intrusive, and ill-conceived initiatives (save 10 percent for keeping Charlie Rangel out of trouble).” -Abe Greenberg, October 9, 2009
Philosopher's Corner

"With their memories of the sixties, when to be young was very heaven, they still believe that an oppositional stance in pursuit of perfection is virtuous in itself—indeed, is the prime or sole content of virtue. And it is this belief that renders them interesting to Hollander, for it makes genuine moral reflection about the nature of various governments and policies impossible. It transforms merely personal discontents into matters of supposedly great general importance."

-Theodore Dalrymple on Paul Hollander: The Only Superpower: Reflections on Strength, Weakness, and Anti-Americanism

Bad News (for Liberals) from Iraq

  • In today's world, disappointments abound for Liberals and I hate to hog, so I'll cite Bridgette Johnson's nanny-nanny boo-boo on Iraq.

iraqwoman vote.jpgThe liberals are upset today. They discovered once again the Iraqi people agree with Bush: That their freedom is worth fighting and dying for...

The Iraqi people are our allies in the War on Terror. And judging by their grit, restraint in the face of violence for a bigger cause, and bravery, we are lucky to have them.

Sorry, liberals, no Civil War here. Move on. Nothing to see. Maybe elsewhere you can propagandize on behalf of mass murderers to hurt the Bush administration, but not in Iraq. Not in Iraq.

It used to be that basket weaving was considered a safe and therapeutic activity for the emotionally frail and the mentally impaired.  In typical fashion, Liberals have rejected the wisdom of the ages sought instead to substitute the Blame Bush game to ease their anxiety and to allay neurotic feelings of anxiety and low self esteem brought on by constantly being wrong.  Hurricane Katrina via global warming caused by Dubya personally is a good example of how ineffective this strategy has been.  Rather than giving them a feeling of satisfaction, a soothing balm of accomplishment, these stretches into illogic and distorted reality have only fueled the need to find more misfortune to lay at Bush's door. Sadly, one can almost hear the fevered obsessiveness creep into their conversation as they grope to find Bush causality in the mudslides in Guatemala, the earthquakes in Pakistan, the disintegration of Iraq Afghanistan Toledo, Ohio.  Go back to basket weaving, Liberals.  Turn in your voter registration cards and go back to basket weaving.

OK, gloatfest over.  Just had to get that out of my system .

Already there are allegations of voter fraud and demands for a recount in Iraq. Can we guess who's behind it all?
