I Feel Better Knowing This
Friday, July 22, 2005 at 07:17PM Darryl Hannah is giving up her movie career to save the environment.
"Time has taught me to worry less about myself
and be more compassionate about others' anxieties. I am more focused on
trying to save the planet and other living creatures than on my career
at the
moment. I won't be doing anything for a while because I'm focused on
environmental issues. I live in a solar-powered house built with
eco-friendly materials and things salvaged from a 19th century barn. I
also drive a 100 percent
bio-diesel car. I try to follow this ideal through all aspects of my
life."

Darryl once played an endangered speciesI wish time would teach me to be more compassionate about others'
anxieties. But what does that have to to with environmental
issues? Maybe she's really concerned about "mental
issues." Ironic, that. Focused on saving the planet
versus her career...I don't know. I have this picture of Luke
Skywalker channeling The Force as he struggles with the controls of his
crippled fighter, with sweet little R2D2 fried in the caboose. As
he barrels down the groove heading for the Death Star's sweet spot, he
says, "I am more focused on trying to save the planet than on my career
at the moment. Time has taught me to be more compassionate about
other's anxieties." It really does convey a certain urgency,
doesn't it?
(Thanks to
Jason and Govindini at Liberty Film Festival. They also point out
that bio-diesel is a net consumer of fossil fuels- takes more energy to
produce bio-diesel than the bio-diesel itself produces. Oh well!)
I'm taking the pledge: no more making fun of actresses. It's like kicking puppies. Very attractive, supercilious, obscenely rich puppies. It's beneath me. Although I reserve the right to make fun of Paris Hilton. She's a special case. Vote or Die!

Sean Penn went to solve the Iraqi crisis, Danny DeVito and "what's her name?" were going to resolve the Palestinian problem, and now Darryl Hannah will devote her life to environmental issues. Oliver Stone said, "We should look to Fidel Castro as one of the wisest people, one of the people we should consult."
There we have it all in a nutshell, and I do mean nutshell, He'd say, "Shoot all the people who do not agree with those three nuts from Hollywood." And Jack Nicholson would say, "See, I told you that the man's a genius!"
