Under The Marble Arch
“Seeing what isn’t there is half the job of being on the Left. The other half is changing what isn’t there through costly, intrusive, and ill-conceived initiatives (save 10 percent for keeping Charlie Rangel out of trouble).” -Abe Greenberg, October 9, 2009
Philosopher's Corner

"With their memories of the sixties, when to be young was very heaven, they still believe that an oppositional stance in pursuit of perfection is virtuous in itself—indeed, is the prime or sole content of virtue. And it is this belief that renders them interesting to Hollander, for it makes genuine moral reflection about the nature of various governments and policies impossible. It transforms merely personal discontents into matters of supposedly great general importance."

Smithereens

Today an American bomb escorted Abu Musab al-Zarqawi from this transitory life to his eternal fate.

This Episcopalian is going to spend some quality time with Dante's Inferno, gleefully thumbing through some of the latter Cantos and letting my imagination run wild.

Perhaps he'll morph and remorph into a serpant for all eternity...

116292-358931-thumbnail.jpg
or perhaps a head for a head...

...or join his mutilated prophet.

We finally saw a picture of him today without that hideous beanie hat. And he's dead too!

I do so enjoy the Doré illustrations.

I think al-Zarqawi is most qualified for Phlegethon, though I hope they let him see his deluded 'prophet' in all his glory before launching him.
