Under The Marble Arch
“Seeing what isn’t there is half the job of being on the Left. The other half is changing what isn’t there through costly, intrusive, and ill-conceived initiatives (save 10 percent for keeping Charlie Rangel out of trouble).” -Abe Greenberg, October 9, 2009
Philosopher's Corner

"With their memories of the sixties, when to be young was very heaven, they still believe that an oppositional stance in pursuit of perfection is virtuous in itself—indeed, is the prime or sole content of virtue. And it is this belief that renders them interesting to Hollander, for it makes genuine moral reflection about the nature of various governments and policies impossible. It transforms merely personal discontents into matters of supposedly great general importance."

I'm getting all nostalgic

It's old home week at the Obama Transition team. So much so that Laura Ingraham is doing a "Groundhog" bit where she announces the "new" picks for Obama's administration. This morning it was Betty Curry as BO's secretary. "Is she bringing Socks?" Then, Janet "Chewbaca" Reno, complete with wookie roars.

But there may be a hitch in the Clinton Family Reunion- gasp! From the NYT

Many Dealings of Bill Clinton Under Review
By DON VAN NATTA Jr. and JO BECKER
Aides said Barack Obama would not formally offer Hillary Rodham Clinton a post unless he was satisfied that Bill Clinton’s activities would not pose a conflict.

I’m sorry. I’m still on the floor laughing at the NYT report that the big hurdle to be cleared for her nomination is a review of Bill’s activities- we have to make sure there’s no conflict. Well, standards have certainly changed since BC’s administration where conflicting activities were SOP.

Ironic, no? The least vetted president in US history is apparently putting all of his future employees under the microscope. Not that a microscope is the correct tool in Bill’s case. More like a front-end loader.

This must be what Barack meant when he said, "I think that America isn't what it could be, or what it once was and could be again."

He must have meant: "Things were just better all the way around when the Clintons were in Washington. That's the future I want for my children. Blow jobs! Then they won't be punished with a baby!"
