Under The Marble Arch
“Seeing what isn’t there is half the job of being on the Left. The other half is changing what isn’t there through costly, intrusive, and ill-conceived initiatives (save 10 percent for keeping Charlie Rangel out of trouble).” -Abe Greenberg, October 9, 2009
Philosopher's Corner

"With their memories of the sixties, when to be young was very heaven, they still believe that an oppositional stance in pursuit of perfection is virtuous in itself—indeed, is the prime or sole content of virtue. And it is this belief that renders them interesting to Hollander, for it makes genuine moral reflection about the nature of various governments and policies impossible. It transforms merely personal discontents into matters of supposedly great general importance."

Historic Choice?

Forget "milking" the POW years- McCain is milking the wild speculation about his VP pick.  Now they are saying "Historic" choice and Palin spokesperson says Palin's at home (5:00 am AK time- but if I had a baby in the house I'd be up already).  Could be disinformation, or maybe the Maverick is going with his old friend Joe Lieberman, which would also be "historic."  As in The Dumbest Choice Ever.

Some are saying it is Palin. I am dumbfounded. Shocked. In a good way I think.

But the MSM is now out for blood. Don't upstage our Barry!

But she is a reformer, she was against Young in the Alaska primary. And she has a little baby!

I know that the following comment is a form of projection, and that I am asserting an expectation that may not be realized. That said,

I am waiting for the discussion of America's energy future between Governor Palin and Senator Biden. The difference between actual experience and the accepted Party Line of Emocrats is going to be stark, and in type and kind.

I think this may be the most brilliant political decision of this year's campaign.
