Rain

By my measurements, we've received more rain here at the  house in the last 48 hours than we have in the 12 preceding months.  To my husband's delight, the burn ban has been lifted; to his chagrin, it's a north wind (burn pile is north of the house: we don't like the  smoke blowing back.)  But, by the time the rain stops the winds may well have shifted and all the wood will be soggy anyway.

I  know a woman whose son is getting married at an outdoor venue this weekend.  The date has been set for months, obviously.  Classify under "Heads I Lose, Tails You Win:" the venue overlooks the lake whose shoreling has so seriously declined that it looks like a miles-long boggy hole in the ground.  Not exactly scenic.
